WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT WRITING

Some other passages where writing is emphasized in the Holy Bible are:

  1. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven” (Exodus 17: 14 NIV).
  2. “When God had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets on which God himself had written the commandments,” (Exodus 31: 18 TEV)
  3. “Go now, write it on a tablet for them, inscribe it on a scroll, that for the days to come it may be an everlasting witness” (Isaiah 30:8 NIV).
  4. The Lord gave me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance. Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed” (Habakkuk 2:2-3 TEV).

The word witness in what God told Isaiah is a relevant reason for writing. If we write godly values against corruption, sexual immorality, war, hatred, divorce and other problems, the books will be witnesses for godly values. The future cannot ignore them. They can choose to be stubborn, but even in their stubbornness; the godly values will continue to make them uncomfortable.
