HOW A BOOK CAN SERVE AS A MISSIONARY

In Nigeria, there are some places where Christians are being persecuted. Many preachers may not be allowed to hold programmes in some of these cities. The situation is similar in some nations of the world. In such challenging moments, believers will need good books.

Using the television or radio is good, but television depends on electricity to function. Unless recorded, they cannot form active bases for concrete sharing. The recollection of content is difficult. Programmes operate within specific timing.

Some encouraging channels depend on the cable network, which may require a monthly renewal fee. Money may not always be available. The case is different from a book. Once obtained, it becomes the property of the owner without any renewal fee and it can easily be shared and discussed among people. The apostle Paul says, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Romans 15:4 NIV).
