SCHOLARS DON’T RETIRE

I had a conversation with a scholar, who was a lecturer at a seminary in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria. He told me that he has retired.

“Scholars don’t retire,” I remarked. I got his attention.

The general concept of retirement is the end of a person’s productive era. I taught him my concept of retirement and encouraged him to turn his knowledge, experience and library into a centre and continue his scholarship in another form.

After some days, he sent the logo of his new organization to me. He refers to himself as the founder and CEO of the organization.

That is the beauty of working with leaders and advising them. Seeing the conversion of ideas into realities is very exciting.

Scholars can only leave one form of job for another, but they never stop themselves from moving forward.
