INTRODUCING PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT LIBRARY

My father loved books. He bought hundreds of books. He invested a lot in books. He had a home library that he called ‘YIRI’S LIBRARY.’ I grew up with a lot of books in our house. I became a reader. I inherited my father’s books after he passed away. I added more books to his books. My wife asked me recently to select three books from our home library for her when she was planning to travel. My firstborn, Pwasollam Yiri, discovered an author in our home library from the books my father bought and he read 18 books by the author. Earlier, when he was a kid, his teacher marked him wrong because he included books as some of the items in a bedroom when she asked her pupils to list the items in the bedroom. The teacher did not know that we had a bookshelf in our bedroom.

A personal developer is someone who is becoming more to do more. He or she is intentionally moving away from ordinary to extraordinary through learning. Books are important tools for achieving that goal. Every leader (like my father) needs a home or office library. Every leader needs to invest in books.

The Personal Development Library is a programme which focuses on equipping leaders with the necessary tools they need to flourish in their personal development and leadership. Having a home library will inspire not only the leader but also his or her family to read and engage in personal development.

Brian Sher wrote, “Go into the luxurious home of any self-made success, and chances are you’ll find a library containing a complete range of books on business, success and wealth creation. The question you need to ask yourself is, which came first: the library or the luxurious house?…with knowledge you can maximize your opportunities and minimize your mistakes. With knowledge, you can create opportunities you otherwise may not have seen. With knowledge, you can do things you couldn’t do before.”

WHY THE LIBRARY?

• Having a good library motivates you and your family members to read.
• You and your family will become better spiritually, mentally etc. through reading.
• You will save a lot of money by reading. Ideas that you will probably pay a lot of money to get can be found in a book.
• You will leave behind a legacy for your family.
• You will build a better organization through reading.
• Reading creates a burden for you to write books.
• Reading makes you a better communicator.
• Having your library reduces the stress in research.
• You don’t have to go through the humiliation sometimes of borrowing books.

HOW IT WORKS

Those who need the right books but they don’t know where to get them, how to get them, and don’t have the time to look for them will have our service as a solution. Our job will be to solve the three challenges above:

• We will get the right books for personal development and build a home or office library for a leader.
• The leader will pay for both the books and other services.
