GO BEYOND YOUR OBSTACLES

When I went to Adamawa state in 1995, I told some of my friends and others that God gave me a vision of producing a film. Most of them laughed at me. I was rejected, ridiculed and resisted by some people. I was also supported by others. After going through a lot of obstacles, the film was released in 1999, titled, GOOD FOR EVIL.  It was the first home video of its kind that was produced in the state (based on my understanding). It was difficult, but not impossible.

I met a man at a village, in Yola, some time ago. He was a smoker and a drunkard. I asked him how long he had been drinking and smoking. He told me. I asked him to tell me the minimum amount he spent daily. He told me. I did a little calculation and found that he had spent over four million Naira, yet he lived in poverty. Can this man help himself and genuinely contribute to the development of  Nigeria as a nation?

I have worked with youths in Adamawa for many years. I discovered that there are talented youths in the state, who are like diamonds in darkrooms. They only need light to be discovered.

Let us avoid corruption. It destroys a nation. The ideal thing is to get money by providing products or services. This creates a process of genuine transactions for everyone in the process. This is real development. However, corruption takes away that flourishing process. Someone must suffer or die before you can get money through corruption.

Our ways of handling our religious and tribal differences are also hindering our progress. We need to go beyond our differences and develop together. You will lose a lot if you always search for solutions only within your tribe or religion.
