THE RIGHT MIND

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23KJV). A story is told of a man who took his savings and boarded a ship to a certain city. He was sure that his money was enough to take care of his needs throughout the period of the trip. On the way, the ship developed a problem and there was a delay. The man did not have money to buy food for the period of the delay, while other passengers enjoyed themselves.

One day, he decided to go to the restaurant and eat, ignoring the possible gravity of the consequences of his action instead of dying of hunger. After eating, he asked for the bill. The restaurant officer said, “This is part of the fare you paid earlier.” The man was shocked. He had suffered when he could have enjoyed himself with other passengers, but he didn’t know.

Your mind will influence the kind of lens through which you look and analyze issues. This will also affect your way of relating to God in handling your responsibility.

Do you feel like you can move mountains? Do you believe you can achieve a positive global impact? It is possible for you to do that with God. One of the challenges you will face is changing your perspective of looking at things. If you believe that God is sovereign, then you can trust Him by taking bold steps in doing what He has called you to do. Jesus demonstrated this with Peter and others in Luke 5:1-7. Peter and others had already reached the point of washing their nets when suddenly Jesus redirected them to launch out into the deep. When they did that they were surprised at the catch of fish to the point that their nets began to break. A call to their partners for assistance became necessary.

A wrong perspective leads to frustration, because no matter what you do, you will achieve below your expectations. Bigger attempts will scare you; but you will succeed if you have the right perspectives.
