A leader is a person who offers direction. He or she is an expert at something. Every book shows a way of doing something. It is a fruit of leadership experiences. Leadership is content.
If we want fresh and unique books, then leaders should be trained and persuaded to write their stories and lessons from their leadership experiences. You have a lot of lessons you can share as a leader.
Why Leaders?
Mark Hopkins says, “These days many are Publishing Books because they want to say Something, but not so many are publishing because they have something to say….”
Leaders have a lot to say. Each has a unique leadership experience and can produce unique books that are fresh, indigenous, and original:
– Leadership lessons and experiences are lost when a leader dies undocumented.
– Writing organizes a leader’s vision and content.
– God used leaders to write the Holy Bible. For example, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John shared one story from different leadership perspectives.
– Imagine a Christianity assuming all the leaders God used to write the Holy Bible had died undocumented.
– Leading through book writing expands a leader’s scope of influence.
– Leaders are communicators. They need to also communicate through books.
– Long-term leadership is achieved through writing.
– Writing enables a local leader to share local ideas globally.
– A local leader can have universal influence through writing.
– God told Habakkuk to write the vision and make it clear. Leaders have visions, they need to write them and make them plain.
– Every leader is a storyline. He or she is the protagonist of his story.
– Leaders have experience in communicating with diverse audiences.
– They already have followership which means potential readers.
– They can actively sell their books through their networks.
– They have friends who are also leaders and can share speaking platforms, which is good for promotion.
– Leaders often have the funds to self-publish their books where the traditional publishers are unavailable.
