There are struggles in choosing to stand for one thing when there are several options. If a person is not careful in making choices within the conflicts of life, he will end up pleasing people, instead of God.
Since God is our Creator, we need to obey Him if we are to achieve lasting positive results in meeting the needs we were created for.
A medical doctor said that he had the passion to become a doctor since when he was a child. After his remedial programme in one of the universities in Nigeria, his friend convinced him to let go studying medicine because it is difficult. When they got to the office where they were to change the course, the person incharge rejected their request and sent them out of his office. Eventually, he studied medicine and became a doctor. He is one of the best doctors I have known and is of great value to our family.
Another person I interviewed also had the passion, in his early stage, for becoming a medical doctor, but he ended up as an ordained minister and the General Manager of a big Christian books and publishing house. He told me that his passion for becoming a medical doctor manifested in his commitment in secondary school as the head boy. He loved taking sick students to the hospital to the extent that he was known in the hospital. Eventually, his efforts to study medicine proved abortive, few times after getting admissions respectively. Strike actions embarked upon by universities denied him the opportunity of enrollment.
After sometime, he decided to enroll in another college for a medical related programme, but still he did not get the admission. He was advised by his pastor to enroll in a seminary or Bible school, but he rejected the idea. Eventually, he enrolled in a theological college, studied and became a pastor. His love for buying and distributing Holy Bibles in small scale led him to someone who took interest in him and gave him a working opportunity. That was how he grew up and became a General Manager.
I can advise you on what to do if you need any of my children for a task. I know the one you should ask for critical advice. The one who is good at risk taking, and the one you can get series of insightful and provoking questions. All of them have the same parents, but each one is unique. This illustrates how different we are yet equipped by God with different abilities for achieving His purpose.
