Yes, AI will disrupt major aspects of publishing, including copy editing, design, formatting, proofreading and many other areas. However, it will be difficult for AI to disrupt the soul of a book completely. Every original book has a soul which, in my view, AI cannot uniquely create for each author. That is where authors who are original in thinking will continue to have a lifeline.
Again, I wonder whether AI knows the ingredients or even the name of my local soup in the village. If yes, then it can assist me better. But if not, then there is still a major limitation to its anticipated disruption. This is why authors need to think locally and share globally.
Authors must move beyond global thinking, research their unpopular local ideas and produce unique books that go beyond the popular market. In that case, they can work effectively with AI as a valuable tool for making their local ideas extraordinary.
